about us

OCT Inaugural Production of Picnic, 2003

Owasso Community Theatre Company, created in the summer of 2003 by a group of theatre enthusiasts, provides a local community theatre venue. Board of Governor elections occurred in August 2002 among the founding members. In September 2002, OCT produced William Inge’s Picnic as its premiere production. Since that first show, OCT has incorporated as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and has produced a variety of theatrical fare including plays, musicals, and talent shows. Three of our marketing entries into the 2006 Oklahoma Community Theatre Festival were awarded first place honors: website design, t-shirt design, and newsletter design. While we primarily perform in the Mary Glass Performing Arts Center in Owasso, we have also participated in the 2006 SummerStage Festival at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center. We are proud members of TACTA, OCTA, and AACT.

He recently built the windmill for the set of Quilters and supports the OCT by attending all their productions. Since he believes that theatre contributes to a healthy community by bringing people of all ages and talents together, he agreed to join the Board to promote these beliefs.
