Robin Hood

Robin Hood

The Adventures of Robin Hood, written by Michele L. Vacca, is a fun-filled, clever telling of the famous legends and ballads.  Robin and his Merry Band are looking for an opportunity to perform their usual daring and dashing deeds.   Disguises, sword fights, kidnapping, archery and many other adventures are in store for this entertaining group of lovable outlaws.  They meet many interesting folk as they match wits with the wily Sheriff in their attempt to rescue the lovely Maid Marian and to win freedom for the people of Sherwood Forest!

Director Terry Grufik

Terry was responsible for establishing a year-round performing arts program in 1978 for students in grades 3-9 which provided training in the areas of music, dance and theatre which continues today at Clark Theatre, a Special Programs facility of the Tulsa Park and Recreation Department.  Besides operating several camps during the summer months, the program also included a fall session which toured a holiday musical to area libraries and nursing homes and a spring session.  After the program was established and  had developed a core group of actors, they began to perform full length plays and musicals which were performed not only at Clark but also at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center and other area venues.

Besides directing numerous one act plays with students in the Clark program, he also directed full length productions of “Godspell,” “Life With Father,” “Tom Sawyer,” Cinderella,” “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown,” “God’s Favorite,” “The Prisoner of Second Avenue” and “Vanities” to name a few.  Terry has also directed several productions at his church.

Terry also conceived, directed, designed the sets and costumes for the Red Glove Revue from 1994-1996, ran the talent show at the Tulsa State Fair for three years and has coordinated the Community Stage at Tulsa International Mayfest for over 25 years.

Terry retired from the Tulsa Performing Arts Center as Program Director in
October, 2003 after 29 years of service with the City of Tulsa.  He has taught drama to students in grades 3-12 at the Dance and Performing Arts Academy the past three years.
